Worm deficiency in health care is rapidly changing the Cal / OSHA rule

The California Department of Industrial Relations this month issued temporary amendments to the requirement for medical personnel to be provided with certified respiratory protection in light of N95 worm deficiency.

The "Interim" guidance applies to employers covered by Cal / OSHA's Aerosol Transmissible Diseases Standard and discusses respiratory protection requirements for covered employers caring for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients in severe respiratory failure.

The changes include allowing employees to use reusable respirators certified by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health instead of disposable face mask filtering masks and allow employees to wear their own respirators if it meets Cal / OSHA requirements, among other shades.

The new guidelines may change "as conditions develop", Cal / OSHA said in a 6 August. document highlighting the policy.
