Have you ever noticed how much is done to move needles?
This action will move the needle. That action will not move any needles. Something else is moving the wrong needle.
Which needles do we move and why do they need to be moved?
We probably all understand what we mean when we use this stupid business mumbo jumbo so let's not dive into it. Let us rather dive into which needles we are trying to move and where do we want them to move to?
Here's one: we want the revenue up.
Here's another: we want the profit up.
How about this: we want spending.
All of these are moving needles and they should be moved to keep us moving properly keeping us in business. Being in business is good.
But what if we focus on moving other needles?
More opportunities for others.
More generosity towards others.
More service for others.
Less comfort for me.
Less worry for myself.
I think it is needles that are worth moving and if future experience is similar to previous experience, moving those needles will move the other needles.
