Where are they going?
The desire to meet family and friends is real. When asked where they plan to go during their trip:
- 41% will visit loved ones
- 21% are beach-bound
- 12% visit a national park
Another 12% said they hit different outdoors and "social distancing" friendly places, including campsites, lakeside resorts, cottages and cottages. Planned activities include fishing, golf, hiking and overall sightseeing activities.
Distractions along the road
Being distracted behind the wheel continues to be a problem for drivers. According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 3,000 lives were lost in 201
Texting and driving get a bad rap, but it's not the only distraction. The definition of distracted driving is really any activity that takes your attention away from the road and the main task of driving.
So, what is the most distracting thing for car drivers? Almost half of the respondents said: their passengers and co-pilots.
Of those, 40% say children are most distracting (sounds familiar, parents?), Followed by one spouse or significant other.

The older the age group, the less distracted drivers are of things in their vehicles. For example, drivers 65+ are distracted seven times more by what they see outside than by mobile phones.
According to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), a nationwide census of fatal traffic accidents in motor vehicles maintained by the NHTSA, half of all American drivers admit to daydreaming and it was distraction No. 1 involved in fatal crashes 2018.

If you're planning to travel, be prepared for busy roads (with other distracted drivers).
Survey respondents are keen to travel 2021 – 56% said they plan to travel more than 100 miles from home. The vast majority (80%) said that they should travel by car, city jeep or truck.
