Inspectors at the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries have conducted 384 agricultural safety and health inspections since March and found pandemic policy violations at nearly a third of the sites, the agency said in a statement released Thursday.
The agency said 130 of the farms were found in violation of various health and safety regulations created to keep agricultural workers safe. more than 20 were cited for "serious" violations with potential fines of up to $ 13,500, according to the statement.
Among the serious violations, 10 were involved in inadequate housing for temporary staff, while others included inadequate social distance policies in the workplace.
