Truist Financial Corp. Inc. said late Tuesday that John Howard, chairman and CEO of Truist Insurance Holdings, has been appointed to Truist's executive leadership as chief insurance officer.
The move is part of the leadership transition with the 2019 merger of BB&T Corp. and SunTrust Banks Inc., which created Truist Financial.
Mr. Howard, who retains his titles at Truist Insurance, will report directly to Bill Rogers, CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Truist Financial.
Mr. Rogers will succeed Kelly King as CEO of Truist Financial on September 1, which was previously announced in February 2019 as part of the merger, the company said in a statement.
Mr. King will take over the role of Chairman of the Board of Truist Financials from March 1
