A health and safety organization is urging the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to clarify whether employers should maintain mask wear for employees in light of the federal government's recent return to mask requirements. The Falls Church, Virginia-based American Industrial Hygiene Association on Friday said it considered "guidance insufficient" and that the CDC statement "created worrying confusion among employers, workers and workers' health and safety workers."
"AIHA calls on the CDC and (OSHA) to clarify what this new guide means for workers and employers, and how they can implement it," the statement said.
Lawyers representing employers have also said that state openings and reversals of such policies as masking have created confusion for companies aiming to comply with the rules.
