The post-pandemic passport stamps to continue

Pay no attention to the chaos at the airports; the post-pandemic travel revival will continue into 2023, according to a travel insurer analyzing plans for the year.

Carmel, Indiana-based Seven Corners Travel Insurance on Thursday released its analysis of travel insurance sold in 2022 for trips taken in 2023. To forecast the state of travel, the company then compared it to travel insurance sold in 2021 for trips planned for 2022. Data from this comparison showed that more travelers have already purchased travel insurance for trips in 2023, which the company says shows “not only a desire to travel, but also greater confidence in their ability to do so.”

Travel insurance sales for those with departure dates in the first half of 2023 were up 20.7%, compared to customers who purchased insurance in 2021

for travel in the first half of 2022. And the number of Seven Corners customers with travel planned for May 2023 nearly doubled compared to those who purchased travel insurance in 2021 for travel in May 2022.

In terms of top destinations, Seven Corners found that the most popular destination is Mexico, with Italy, the UK and France rounding out the top four spots. These are the same top destinations as a year ago, although France and the UK flip-flopped in rankings from one year to the next.
