The controller of New York City and the Dutch pension manager Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP have asked the board of Amazon.com Inc to publish a public report on the company's efforts to protect the health and safety of workers during the COVID -19 pandemic.
"There is a massive link between what the Amazon management says they do to keep workers safe and what these workers report," said Scott Stringer, New York City's inspector, in a statement on Thursday. "If Amazon is to invest in workers' health and safety measures, they must use hard data to show that these measures keep workers healthy and safe."
Mr. Stringer, who represents New York City Pension Funds and ABP, says Amazon-based Amazon shareholders have a "right to transparency", including details on how the distributor protects its employees from coronavirus. The City Pension Fund ̵
