We can all agree that the year 2020 has broken many records and the hurricane season has not been an exception. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this year's hurricane season has been the most active on record. 1
So far (November 17), there have been 31 tropical storms, thirteen of which have been hurricanes — the most recent being Hurricane Iota, a Category 5 hurricane that will hit Central America early in the morning, while still trying to recover. from Hurricane Eta's devastating landfall less than two weeks ago.
In the United States, the previous record was 28 storms in 2005. That year, Florida became the state that suffered the most hurricanes in a season ̵
The hurricane season is about to last for another two weeks. With that said, do not let your guard go down – be prepared. Last week, storm / hurricane surprised Eta Florida with a severe change in landing and intensity, in addition to heavy rains that caused flooding in many residential and commercial areas on the west coast. This is why you should be prepared throughout the hurricane season.
Have a copy of your insurance, confirm that all payments have been made, be aware of your coverage and damages excluded, have an inventory of your property, take pictures before and after a storm. If any damage occurs, make your claim in time and leave the information to the carrier. Also get several estimates of damage to your property. Be prepared and stay safe.
