The makers of miniature Fireball Cinnamon alcohol are under fire for allegedly misleading consumers about their packaging, NBC’s Chicago affiliate reports.
Plaintiff Anna Marquez filed her lawsuit against Sazerac Co. in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Illinois over what the Chicago resident calls misleading labeling: the mini bottles sold at gas stations do not contain Canadian whiskey, as they appear.
According to the news report, the miniature Fireball Cinnamon contains malt-based and wine-based alcohol components made to “capture the essence” of the original Fireball Cinnamon “Whiskey,” but they do not contain any actual whiskey.
Miniature bottles of Fireball Cinnamon are sold at stores in the U.S. that can only sell beer, malt beverages and wine products, such as gas stations and grocery stores, typically for 99 cents — but are not the same product as Sazerac̵
