The Washington Department of Labor & Industries fined $ 92,000 to a construction company with a history of security issues, the department said in a statement on Tuesday.
Cloise & Mike Construction Inc., formerly known as Choice & Mike Construction, was quoted as having failed to use fall protection during the roofing of a house under construction in Hoquiam, Washington.
The company has been cited more than two dozen times for serious and repeated security breaches since 2001 and has been inspected 26 times; Seven of these inspections occurred over the past three years and resulted in more than $ 200,000 in fines.
During the most recent inspection, investigators for the Washington Division of Occupational Safety and Health found that workers at the construction site not only worked at heights without fall protection, but employees did not wear masks or practice social distancing, the department said.
In total, Cloise & Mike Construction quotes were issued for lack of fall protection when working at heights of four feet or higher, no work plan for fall protection, failure to follow COVID-1
The company has 15 days to appeal the quotes. Money raised from the quotes goes to the Washington Supplementary Pension Fund.
