A company promoting a face mask that allows the wearer to enjoy a drink while protecting themselves and others against the spread of COVID-19 threatens to sue another company that claims their similar masks are dangerous knockoffs.
Sip Mask USA sent a cease-and-desist letter to its competition with Shut Your Mouth's Zip Lock Mask threatening a $ 1 million lawsuit and claiming that its competitor is infringing intellectual property rights by promoting its "uncertain knockoff", according to the celebrity news site TMZ.com.
In the legal letter obtained by TMZ, Sip Mask claims that as early as March, it entered the market for "medical grade" and "fireproof" zippered face coating that allows users to drink drinks through a "straw gate." Shut Your Mouth received never permit to start selling its version, which has only one zipper and no gate to safely consume a drink, according to the news outlet.
Shut Your Mouth has so far kept its mouth shut on the square.
