A lawsuit filed Monday against Fox News allegations ended anchor Ed Henry had raped and sexually assaulted a former Fox News employee, and that other personalities in the air, including Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson, had sexually harassed a Fox News -correspondent. Fox News said in a statement that it had taken appropriate action.
On July 1, Fox announced that it had terminated Mr. Henry based on the results of an internal investigation, according to the trial filed in the New York District Court in New York in Jennifer Eckhart and Cathy Areu v. Fox News Network, LLC, Ed Henry, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Howard Kurtz.
The lawsuit accuses Mr. Henry raped and sexually harassed Eckhart, an associate producer. It says that even though Fox News revealed to the public that it had terminated Mr. Henry based on its internal investigation, "in fact, Fox News knew that Mr. Henry had committed sexual misconduct as early as the beginning of 201
He quit Because Fox News realized it was at the bottom of a PR nightmare and wanted to go before this suit and be able to claim that it had done the right thing. It did not have it.
The lawsuit also states that Eckhart asked Fox anchor Liz Claman to perform "a variety of degrading tasks", including cleaning and organizing Claman's shoes and was "weakened and beaten" by Ms. Claman, among other charges in the trial.
Mrs. Eckhart ended in June according to the trial.
The trial also states that Areu was sexually harassed by Mr. Henry and Mr. Carlson, Mr. Hannity, Fox host Howard Kurtz and Fox News political analyst Gianno Caldwell, and later retaliated against when she rejected her progress.
Fox News said in a statement, "Based on the results of a comprehensive independent investigation conducted by an external law firm, including interviews with many eyewitnesses, we have determined that all of Cathy Areus' allegations against FOX News, including its management and hosts Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity & Howard Kurtz and its contributor Gianno Caldwell, are fake, patent frivolous and completely lacking in merit.
"We take all allegations of harassment, misunderstanding and retaliation seriously, investigate them quickly and take immediate action if necessary – in this case, the appropriate course of action is based on our investigation to defend vigorously against these baseless allegations.
" Ms. Areu and Jennifer Eckhart can pursue their claims against Ed Henry directly with him, as FOX News already took swift action as soon as it learned of Eckhart's allegations on June 25 and Mr. Henry is no longer employed by the network. "
