RIMS states the 2021 Convention to have personal events only "if possible"

The Risk and Insurance Management Society on Tuesday said that its annual congress and exhibition, to be held in Chicago April 19-21, 2021, will consist of limited personal, socially distant activities only if possible. The

update came amid the increase in new COVID-19 cases in many parts of the world and because restrictions remain for large-scale events.

“If possible, we will hold some activities on the ground, face to face in Chicago from April 19-21. But if external factors remain, all training, networking and solution-sharing components will be virtual during the extended April 19-29 period, RIMS CEO Mary Roth and RIMS President Laura Langone said in an update to Risk and Insurance staff.

Many hotels and restaurants have not yet opened their doors to customers in Chicago, stated the New York-based risk management organization.

"We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on our plans to ensure that RIMS 2021

is delivered, however, it exceeds all expectations," RIMS said.

In any case, registration for the event will open in January.

RIMS previously said that the convention would be a hybrid personal, virtual event.
