On Thursday, Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. and Spencer Educational Foundation Inc. launched a guide to help risk personnel develop internships for their businesses.
The guide describes important tools for building a successful program for companies that either use a risk management internally for the first time or have an existing plan, RIMS says.
"Creating meaningful internships is crucial to the sustainability of this profession and we are happy to build this bridge to rewarding risk management careers, says RIMS CEO Mary Roth in a statement.
The manual contains a risk manager worksheet to build a business case for why their company should hire a trainee, as well as strategies for designing an internship and defining a trainee responsibility, RIMS said in the statement.
Author of the RIMS Student Advisory Council, the guide also deals with risk professionals on applying for a Spencer Internsh Ip Grant to fund the program
"Reality gives risk management and insurance students a competitive edge when they enter the workforce," Spencer President Marya Propis said. "Through scholarships, scholarships, and internships, Spencer continues to support new opportunities for students to explore our profession."
The report is currently available to RIMS members.
