The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. said Tuesday that it has joined a coalition of policyholder groups to develop a pandemic insurance program.
The Washington-based coalition Business Continuity, formed in October last year, represents more than two dozen policyholder groups and companies in the hotel, real estate, retail, film, television and other industries.
The coalition is working with policy makers and other stakeholders to develop an insurance program to ensure continuity in the event of future major closures due to pandemics and other emergencies.
Last year, RIMS announced its support for HR 7011, a bill to create the Pandemic Risk Insurance Act of 2020 introduced by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-New York.
