On Wednesday, the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. announced its 2021 awards and prize winners, including the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award for lifetime achievement in risk management.
The Goodell Award was presented to Pamela Popp, Vice President, Chief Risk Officer, at GB Specialty, a division of Gallagher Bassett Services Inc., RIMS said in a statement.
The award pays tribute to RIMS's first president, Harry Goodell, and pays tribute to individuals who have promoted the goals of RIMS and the risk management discipline.
Mark Habersack, head of the RIMS Nevada chapter and head of risk management at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, and Sue Mepham, a retired risk professional and head of the RIMS Saskatchewan Chapter in Canada, were recipients of the Ron Judd Heart of The RIMS award.
The award pays tribute to the legacy of Mr. Judd, who served as RIMS CEO for 22 years. It honors individuals for outstanding results in promoting chapter-level risk management.
Elliot Long, American risk management consultant for Aflac Inc., was named RIMS Rising Star of the Year, honoring future risk management personnel under the age of 35 or having seven or fewer years of professional experience in
Mr. Long was recognized for demonstrating "exceptional initiative, volunteer work, professional development, achievement and leadership potential," RIMS said.

On Tuesday, RIMS named Michael Harrington, Vice President of Risk Management and Assistant Secretary to Lockheed Martin Corp., its 2021 Risk Manager of the Year, while Cheryl Lloyd, Vice President, Chief Risk Officer and Vice President of Systemic Personnel Resources at the University of California was introduced in the RIMS Risk Management Honor Roll.
