About PetPlan Insurance
PetPlan is an animal insurance company originally founded in the United Kingdom and launched in the United States in 2003.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, PetPlan is the preferred pet insurance provider for American Animal Hospital Association and the exclusive pet insurance provider for AARP members.
All PetPlan insurances are taken out by XL Specialförsäkringsbolag, which is a reputable insurer in the industry.
PetPlan provides simple and comprehensive coverage for cats and dogs. According to the PetPlan policy, you can receive coverage for accidents and diseases as well as chronic conditions, hereditary or congenital diseases and diagnosis and treatments.
In addition to protecting your pet, PetPlan also has several charities. They have a charity arm that supports homeless veterinarians and humane veterinary research.
They also donate a portion of each police sale, and renewal is donated to shelters, humane communities and rescues.
What PetPlan Covers
One of the most important aspects of pet insurance is to determine what the insurance covers and what it does not cover.
Under the core PetPlan policy, you will receive coverage for the following:
- Fees for veterinary examinations
- Diagnostic treatments Prescription drugs
- Cancer treatments
- Non-routine dental treatments Imaging such as MRI scans and CAT scans
- Behavior and alternative therapy
- Referral and specialist treatment
- 19659024] You will also receive coverage for hip dysplasia as long as there are no signs or symptoms during the first six months of coverage.
What PetPlan does not cover
PetPlan does not cover pre-ex waste conditions, bilateral conditions, routine and wellness costs, liability or cosmetic and elective procedures.
PetPlan defines a pre-existing condition as "a medical condition that first occurred or showed clinical signs before the date of this policy or that occurred or showed clinical signs during the Polish waiting period."
They also make a distinction between curable versus non-curable pre-existing conditions.
* PetPlan includes curable existing conditions after 365 days.

Non-emergency specialists are reimbursed at 80%, regardless of your total reimbursement rate.
Pets must be at least six weeks old to apply for coverage. There is no upper age limit for coverage.
Your pet will be covered throughout the United States and Canada.
If your pet develops a disease outside the United States or Canada, it will not be covered.
Like most pet insurance companies, PetPlan conducts waiting periods before coverage begins.
Policyholders must wait the standard 15 days to receive coverage for accidents and illnesses and six months to receive coverage for crossbreeding and patella conditions.
The six-month waiting period can be waived if your pet is examined by a veterinarian, and the veterinarian notes that there are no indications of any knee problems.
PetPlan does have some specific fine print when it comes to getting coverage.
You must take your pet to the vet within 48 hours after you notice symptoms of illness or injury. Otherwise, PetPlan can not cover veterinary costs.
Pets must also have annual inspections for the coverage to apply. If they do not, PetPlan can keep coverage until you take your pet for a check.
Despite this, PetPlan offers some unique additional policies for policies of $ 15,000 per year or more.
- Cost of advertising and reward for lost or stolen pets
- Cost of boarding your pet at a kennel while you are in the hospital due to accident, illness or damage Compensation for the price of the pet if the pet dies or is killed during the insurance period due to injury or illness
- Reimbursement for travel expenses that you can not recover if you have to cancel a trip due to a pet or illness showing up within seven days of departure date
Finally, PetPlan has a unique Covered for Life guarantee. This means that PetPlan will never terminate your coverage based on injury history or because your pet is ill.
PetPlan does not implement any service life or per limit value.
This is good if your pet is suffering from a chronic illness or injury.
They also reimburse veterinarians directly, which may prevent you from having to pay the full bill in advance.
Like many animal insurance companies, PetPlan has a certain time limit for when you must submit your
You must file a claim within 90 days of treatment to receive compensation.
Compensation claims can take up to 30 days but are usually paid within two weeks after you have submitted full claims online or via the app.
The average coverage cost is $ 29 per month for dogs and $ 18 per month for cats. Based on sample quotas, PetPlan's prices are higher than the competition.
Of course, the cost of your policy depends on a number of factors including race, age, location, health status and more.
If you want to know what PetPlan costs you each month, you can easily quote a policy on their website.
