OSHA fines tax authorities for banning workers from wearing masks

A tax company was fined more than $ 136,000 for banning employees and customers from wearing masks, according to a statement Tuesday from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The Liberty Tax Service in Lynn, Massachusetts, was cited for allegedly banning its workers and customers from wearing face masks in their offices, despite a nationwide mandate. The site is a franchise of Virginia Beach, Virginia-based Franchise Group Inc.

OSHA also claimed that the tax office and franchisee Ariana Murrell-Rosario deliberately failed to develop and implement measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, requiring employees to work in six meters apart and customers, failed to provide adequate ventilation and failed to carry out checks such as physical barriers, screening for workers before shifts or improved cleaning protocols.

The company has 1

5 working days to dispute the quotes.
