Newfront Insurance on Thursday named former Marsh LLC executive Mathew Summers head of its construction practice, one of several executives the San Francisco-based brokerage has hired from its larger rival in recent months.
In addition, Dallas-based Mr. Summers to be the brokerage’s regional managing director for Texas, Newfront said in a statement.
Mr. Summers joined Marsh from Willis Towers Watson PLC in 2019 and was most recently managing director, construction manager-central zone at the brokerage.
Newfront has hired several other senior Marsh brokers recently. Earlier this month, it hired Phil Huffman as market leader for Greater Pittsburgh; in January, Wendy Cook was hired as director of insurance placement, Frannie Epps as director of casualty and Lauren Pratscher as director of claims placement; in December, John Newell was hired as commercial manager; and in November, Tyler McAllister was hired as Greater Philadelphia marketing manager.
