The board on January 11 said it adopted the rules to replace the previous emergency medical rules for telemedicine. adopted in October 2021.
“For social distancing and to avoid promoting the outbreak of covid-19, including new variants, the emergency department allows telemedicine visits in certain circumstances to avoid personal visits to authorized providers when medically appropriate, in compliance with guidelines issued by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, ”WCB said in a regulatory impact statement. "This Regulation will allow doctors, nurses, medical assistants, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, chiropractors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists to treat using telecommunications health due to covid-19, including new variants."
The board, which has adopted emergency rules for telecommunications health nine times since March 2020, and said the regulations are effective in providing care to workers. The agency added that it wants to keep the current rules in force during the process of adopting a permanent regulation on when telecommunications health can be used.
