Munich Reinsurance America Inc. said Thursday that Anthony J. Kuczinski will retire as CEO of Munich Re US P&C Cos. and for Munich Re US Holding Inc. as of December 31, 2022.
Mr Kuczinski will then take on the role of strategic advisor, effective January 1, 2023, to ensure a smooth transition in 2023, it said in a statement. He will have no immediate successor.
Instead, Munich Re has decided to establish a new board department, Global Specialty Insurance, which will include parts of Kuczinski’s area of responsibility, the parent company said in a separate statement from Munich.
Effective January 2023, certain primary insurance businesses included in the reinsurance segment will be managed together in Global Specialty Insurance, to be led by Michael Kerner, who was recently appointed to the board effective January 1
, 2023.Munich Reinsurance America, led by president and CEO Marcus Winter, will report as a unit to Stefan Golling, responsible for global clients and North America on the Munich Re board, the statement said.
