Most companies do not have a company-wide cyber approach

Although nearly 75% of organizations have experienced cyberattacks, most companies have not adopted a company-wide approach to cyber risk, says a report published on Thursday.

The survey of more than 650 global cyber risk managers conducted by Marsh LLC and Microsoft Corp. also found that although ransomware is considered the biggest cyber threat facing companies, other common cyber threats include phishing and social engineering attacks; invasion of privacy; business interruption due to external supplier / partner cyber disruption; and congestion attacks.

The survey showed that 61% of respondents’ organizations buy some type of cyber coverage, which was an increase of 30% since the most recent survey in 201

9.

While 79% of organizations have a response plan in place, 40% of respondents say that their organization’s overall cyber hygiene needs to be improved, and only 3% rated theirs as excellent.

Among other survey results, 53% of organizations believe that the biggest obstacle to cyber risk assessments is not having the right employees or talent to do so, while 33% say that not having the right data is an obstacle to evaluating new technology.

The survey also found that supplier and supply chain problems lag behind cyber security measures taken.
