Marketers will pay $ 3.3 million for prescription recipes

Prosecutors in Indiana announced on Wednesday that a California medical marketer was ordered to pay $ 3.3 million in damages after pleading guilty to paying returns to doctors prescribing compounded drugs to injured federal workers.

Manuel J. Bojorquez of Anaheim, California, was also sentenced to serve 18 months in prison followed by 36 months in probation.

Mr. Bojorquez owned and operated MD Medical Distribution, which operated as DynaMD. From 2013 to 2016, he acted as a marketer for several blending pharmacies in Indiana.

“Bojorquez used his marketing business to send millions of dollars to Chicago-based doctors, in exchange for referring prescriptions to Indiana-based pharmacies,”

; the Justice Department said in a statement. “Bojorquez and his company received a percentage of the money paid for the prescriptions caused by the setback.”

Prosecutors said the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Program paid more than $ 8 million for prescriptions that Mr. Bojorquez evoked by paying withdrawals.
