Markel Group Inc. on Thursday said it has named Wendy Houser chief wholesaler and Sarah Gavlick chief retail officer for its Markel Specialty division.
The newly created positions will report to Bryan Sanders, president, Markel Specialty, according to a statement from Markel. Markel Specialty is the largest division within Markel’s insurance business, the statement added.
Mrs. Houser, who joined Markel in 2008, was most recently territory manager, West, for Markel Specialty, responsible for overseeing underwriting and production for the western half of the United States. Prior to her promotion to that role in 2020, she had served as regional president for the Mid South Region, the statement said.
Mrs. Gavlick, who joined Markel in 2004, was most recently territory manager, East, for Markel Specialty, responsible for overseeing underwriting and production for the eastern half of the United States. Prior to her promotion to that role in 2020, she had served as regional manager for the Northeast region.
