Life Saving Surgery for Quinn – Trupanion Blog

  Life Saving Surgery for Quinn

Quinn's story began on a typical September morning while looking for her morning with her dog friends at the local park. That morning, the dogs all gathered in an area of the park. They eat small chunks of molded corn cabbage left by raccoons. For every dog owner who knows the dangers of corn on the cob, 3 dogs became ill.

Quinn fired corn cabbage that night and we thought she was ready. Fast winding almost 2 months and Quinn became critically ill with blockage in the small intestine which was close to rupture, from a small piece of corn cabbage. She underwent life-saving surgery, removed 1

0 cm of the small intestine and recovered, returned to her old self and made her kick back within a few weeks.

Seven weeks later, she had severe abdominal pain again. We discovered that a dangerous infection had broken in the small intestine.

This time, the risk was higher because it was not known where the infection had spread. Unfortunately, she had to be rushed to an emergency hospital where she again underwent surgery and lost another 12 cm of the intestines.

Thanks to Trupanion, we were able to get her the urgent special care she required. We are grateful that we had Trupanion's support all the time. Their customer care and true compassion for pets are at the top of the line. I would not hesitate to recommend Trupanion.
