The Compact Book of Adjusting Property Insurance Claims – Second Edition
A Manual for First Party Property Insurance Adjuster
The insurance adjuster is not mentioned in an insurance policy. The obligation to investigate and prove a claim falls on the insured. Standard property insurance, based on the New York Standard Fire Insurance Policy, contains conditions that require the insured to file a seized proof of loss within sixty days of the loss to prove the insurer facts and loss amounts.
The policy makes it possible for the insurer to then, and only then, respond to the insured's proof of loss. The insurer can then either accept or reject the proof provided by the insured.
Technically, if the wording of the policy was followed literally the insurer could sit back, do nothing and wait for the proof. If the insured was late in submitting the proof, the insurer could reject the claim. If the insured submits a correct proof of loss, the insurer can either accept or reject the proof of loss. If the insurer rejected the proof of the loss, the insured can either send a new one or give up and get nothing from the claim. Adhering to the policy would be difficult because insurers and insurance companies were not happy with that system because insurers and insurance companies were not happy with that system. This made it too difficult for a layman to successfully file a claim. The system, as written in the ordinary fire policy, seemed to run counter to the union of good faith and fair trade that had been the basis of the insurance contract for centuries. Most insurance companies understood that their insured were often unable to meet the strict compliance with the insurance terms. To fulfill the union of good faith and fair insurance companies created the insurance adjuster to fulfill its obligation to act fairly and in good faith with the insured.
The second edition adds new material from 2018 and 2019, is easier to use and more compact than the original.

The Compact Book on Adjusting Liability Claims, Second Edition
A Handbook for the Liability Claims Adjuster
This Compact Book of Adjusting Liability Claims is designed to provides the new adjuster with a basic foundation for what it takes to become a competent and effective insurance adjuster. It is also available as a refresher for the experienced adjuster.
The liability claim quickly adjusts that there is little difficulty with an applicant (the person claiming bodily injury or property damage to an insured person) if the claim is paid as required. The insured may be unhappy if the applicant's claim is paid as presented because most people do not think they did anything wrong or are afraid of an increase in premiums charged for subsequent insurances.
The adjuster must be prepared to anoint the insured's feelings, explain why the law and the policy it was appropriate to pay the applicant and that the settlement is in the best interests of both the insured and the insurer.
The adjuster knows and must be prepared to explain to an insured that If a claim is contradicted or denied, the applicant will be unhappy, will probably apply. If not terminated immediately, the applicant's lawyers will hand over the coal to the insured to prove that the insured is responsible for the applicant's damages. The disputes will take time, effort and money to determine the extent of the damages and who is responsible for the damages. Failure to settle quickly can cost the insured his or her reputation and will certainly cost the insurer much more than the claim could have been settled for had it been resolved before the applicant retained a lawyer.
