Lance Ewing, a longtime risk manager and former president of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc., was named vice president of risk management and operations at the San Manuel Tribe of Mission Indians this week.
Mr. Ewing will oversee security, corporate risk management and insurance for Highland, the California-based organization, which operates a casino, has multiple property holdings and is building a hotel and entertainment center. He will also work closely with the tribe's governance, risk and compliance team, he said.
Prior to joining the San Manuel Tribe, Ewing was Vice President of Global Risk Management and Customer Services at Cotton Holdings Inc., an infrastructure support and disaster recovery company in Katy, Texas. Prior to joining Cotton, he held various positions in the event, gaming and hospitality insurance and risk management sectors, including risk manager for Harrah & # 39 ;s Entertainment Inc., where he worked when he was named Risk Manager of the Year 2007.
Mr. Ewing was president of RIMS 2003-04.
