John Hampton, Professor of Business Administration at St. Peter’s University of Jersey City, New Jersey, and former CEO of Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc., died Monday at the age of 79.
An Army veteran who went by the name Jack, Mr. Hampton graduated with a master’s and doctoral degree from George Washington University before teaching at various universities and serving as provost of The College of Insurance in New York, which is now part of St. Louis University. John’s University.
In 2000, he was appointed CEO of RIMS. After leaving RIMS in 2004, he started at St. Peter’s.
A well-known speaker and author on risk management topics, Mr. Hampton previously wrote a column on corporate risk management for Business insurance.
