Hunton insurance partner, Mike Levine, discusses sports hormone claim insurance

Hunton & Williams Insurance Recovery Partner, Michael Levine, was quoted in an article in August 29, 2017, as revealed by Business Insurance, on the rapid rise of trials and insurance issues surrounding high school and college concussion. Among other things, an insurance applicant is being discussed by the Great American Assurance Company against the US Conference in the Federal Court of Dallas, Texas. In the lawsuit, the insurance company claims that its policy could not afford coverage for football influence damage as the policy contained a "limited event coverage approval", which limited bodily injury coverage to a list of sports that apparently did not include football. As Member Levine noted, it is worrying that political approvals are used to limit the coverage of bodily injury to those occurring in some sports, but not when they arise in football ̵

1; where injuries are most likely. Football is where coverage is most needed; but the insurer has apparently removed it using a political approval that intends to provide coverage, not limit it. As Mr Levine notes, cases that hereby require the policyholders to carefully review all policy approvals to ensure that the policy when read as a whole actually provides the coverage needed most.
