Hub launches a digital placement platform for covering personal lines



Hub International Ltd. introduced on Monday a digital platform for covering personal lines such as home and car insurance.

The move comes about three months after Hub expanded its digital offerings for small businesses through the acquisition of the online agency Insureon.

The personal platform VIU by Hub will allow buyers to receive quotes from participating insurance companies, including Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., Safeco Insurance Co. and Travelers Cos. Inc., and buy coverage online.

Buyers will be able to access other insurance companies through the brokerage’s staff, said Marc Cohen, CEO and CEO of Hub, in an interview.

Overall, Hub mixes a digital strategy with a traditional insurance broker strategy, Cohen said.

“VIU by Hub is designed for the customer who wants to interact with their insurance broker in a digital way, but who also has the ability to connect and communicate with an insurance professional on personal lines,” said Cohen.
