The head of Idaho's Insurance Department, Dean Cameron, oversees the regulation and oversight of insurance operations, corporations, and agents in Idaho. Appointed by Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter, Mr Cameron has been serving in Idaho residents since June 15, 2015. In the Insurance Department, the Consumer Department ("CAS") serves as a free resource to Idaho's consumers, including providing general information and responding to consumer inquiries and complaints.

] The consumer complaint requires consumers to provide contact information and request information on insurance policy, related complaints with other authorities and a report on the complaint against your insurance company and / or agent. CAS also recommends and requests that consumers provide documentation about their complaints. Examples of support documentation may include a copy of your insurance (s) and written communication with your insurance company or agent (s). Insurance consumers are notified by e-mail at any time where there is activity on the consumer complaint that requires the attention of the insurance consumer.

Following the application, consumer issues in CAS work with consumers towards a goal to resolve disputes with insurance companies and insurance producers (agents).

Our primary purpose as an independent regulatory body is to provide assistance and advice on issues within the state of Idaho related to various insurance products.

Another CAS tool to help consumers is the Comparison Guide ("Comparison Guide"), which provides consumers with useful information to help assess their current insurance company and compare it with other insurance companies. The Comparative Guide contains a consumer complaint that measures the number of consumer complaints for a company in relation to other companies in the same market. A company with a complaint of 1 has an average number of complaints. A company with a complaint in excess of 1 has more complaints than the average.
