Appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper, Michael Conway serves as the Colorado Insurance Commissioner where he is tasked with regulating and supervising insurance companies and insurance agents in Colorado. With the Consumer Protection Mission, Michael Conway and the Colorado Division of Insurance have streamlined a simple process for insurance consumers to file complaints against insurers that are abusive, slow paying or not paying their insurance policies.

The new system allows consumers to enter their complaints and allow them to upload support documents, including policies, letters or other communications from insurance companies or agents. In order to speed up the process, consumers are informed by email at any time where there is activity on the complaint that requires consumer attention. People will be able to communicate directly and securely with the department via the portal about their complaints.

The Consumer Complaint Portal can be accessed via the Consumer Affairs page on the Colorado Division of Insurance page. The consumer complaint will require insurance customers to create an account with an email address. After logging on to the advertising campaign portal, an insurance consultant has the opportunity to file a complaint and upload support documents, including insurance and communications from insurance companies or agents. Insurance consumers are notified by e-mail at any time where there is activity on the consumer complaint that requires the attention of the insurance consumer.

The Colorado Charter § 10-16-128 requires the Colorado Commissioner of Insurance to provide an annual report on the number, nature and results of complaints against insurers over the past 12 months. The Colorado Division of Insurance repurchased $ 11.4 million in connection with the survey of 3,100 insurance policies against insurance companies for the 2017-2018 financial year.
