Hamilton Insurance Group Ltd. on Tuesday appointed former Zurich North America CEO Ashly Turner to head U.S. energy insurance and Steve Blackwell, of Berkley Life Sciences, to head U.S. life sciences insurance at Hamilton Select Insurance Inc., which was formed earlier this year.
Both are based in Hamilton’s new office in Richmond, Virginia, and report to Clay Rhoades, CEO of Hamilton Select.
Ms. Turner most recently held a senior insurance role for energy accident risks for Zurich North America. Mr. Blackwell was most recently a senior underwriter at Berkley Life Sciences.
Hamilton Select’s energy division focuses on small to medium-sized, difficult-to-place risks in energy-related contracting, exploration and production, renewable energy sources (including solar and wind), and petrochemical manufacturing and distribution, the statement said.
Available coverage includes general liability, including pollution and professional alternatives, with up to $ 5 million in excess limits for US-based risks with up to $ 25 million in revenue. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis, the statement says.
Hamilton Select̵7;s Life Sciences division is focused on difficult-to-place risks that are engaged in research and / or trading in medical technology products, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and cosmetics, contract research and the IT industry for healthcare. The coverage may include product liability, with errors and omissions and other supplementary coverage alternatives on a primary or surplus basis, the statement states.
