Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC named Peter Askew President and CEO of its Canadian operations, replacing its longtime top executive in the country as the reinsurance broker continues to improve its management.
Toronto-based Mr. Askew has spent about ten years at Guy Carpenter and returned to the company from insurance company QBE Services Inc. (Canada) in 2017 as CEO. He replaces Donald Callahan, who led Guy Carpent's operations in Canada for 20 years, according to a Guy Carpenter statement.
Mr. Callahan will remain with the broker "to devote his time and expertise to working closely with clients," the statement said.
The announcement comes amid a movement of senior executives at the New York-based unit Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. in recent weeks.
On Monday, Guy Carpenter appointed Neil Mayer chief executive and took over from John Ehinger, who has left the company and appointed two other new members to its executive committee.
Last month, former Willis Towers Watson PLC optional reinsurance manager Laurence Upton was named CEO of Guy Carpent's new UK hybrid solution unit.
Also in July, the reinsurance broker Henry Lawrence, another former Willis Towers Watson faction leader, is named CEO of GC Fac UK
