Give me a break; employees want more time off under special circumstances

People and the C-suite take notice: it’s hard to break up, it’s also horrible when your plant dies and when you have a hangover.

A new survey released this month by human resources compliance firm Trusaic has ranked the kinds of unusual new job perks employees would like to see employers offer — including both “breakup leave,” “hangover leave” and “potted plant bereavement leave.”

A quarter of all respondents to the poll voted for “Paid celebration recovery leave,” also known as “Hagover leave” as a fantasy job benefit they would like to see employers offer, according to Trusaic.

When breaking up, 17% of all respondents chose “Breakup Leave”

; as a desired job benefit for employers to start offering. That said, some want time off to break up with social media: 12% of respondents chose “Social Media Detox Days” as a job perk they’d like to see from their employers.

Another pain point? When your sports team loses: 9% of respondents chose this leave to mourn a team’s big loss. For those who love their houseplants, 5% want a special day to mourn that loss.
