Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. on Wednesday promoted Tom Wakefield to CEO of Gallagher Re and named James Kent, the former head of the reinsurance broking unit, CEO, global insurance strategic relationships, at the parent company.
London-based Mr. Wakefield joined Gallagher Re from Aon PLC as CEO in June 2021, before Gallagher later that year acquired Willis Towers Watson PLC’s significantly larger reinsurance brokerage business, which had been led by Mr. Kent. After the deal was completed, Mr. Kent to CEO of Gallagher Re, and Mr. Wakefield became CEO of its UK operations.
In his new role, Mr. Kent to establish a framework for Gallagher to engage with other companies in the insurance and reinsurance sector “including further investment in capital advisory and portfolio solutions,”
; Gallagher said in a statement.“The newly created global role will provide a single point of contact for Gallagher’s carrier relationships, to support growth ambitions across our core trading partnerships,” Tom Gallagher, CEO of Gallagher Global Brokerage, said in the statement. Mr. Kent will report to Mr. Gallagher and Doug Howell, the company’s chief financial officer.
