When the Delta variant revolved around the country and the whole world during the summer, travel enthusiasts did not come on board to cancel upcoming autumn trips.
They were looking for insurance and a record number of people report travel insurance comparison site InsureMyTrip, which told Travel Weekly that the number of online questions about the term "travel insurance" in August reached its highest levels since March 2020, when cancellations soared.
"With the Delta variant being more common and there being concerns about cancellations due to either COVID or potential border closures, insurance has definitely been in the minds of travelers," says Meghan Walch, Product Manager for InsureMyTrip, who added that savvy travelers are now reading better at coverage.
"And at this point, people are a little more educated and know what to ask and look for," Walch told Travel Weekly.
