A professional liability insurance for lawyers and law firms said on Monday that it is adding other insurance partners to improve coverage for its insured after ending its relationship with the units of Skyward Specialty Insurance Group Inc .. said in a statement that it has added AM Best ranked A (Excellent) and A + (Superior) insurance partners to improve coverage for their customer insured. A spokesman would not identify who they are.
The statement states that the new partnerships follow the termination of First Indemnity by its relationship with the Skyward units Houston Specialty Insurance Co., Imperium Insurance Co. and Oklahoma Specialty Insurance Co. in May.
The spokesman said in a statement, "We ended the relationship because Houston at the time had an A.M. Best rating of A- with negative consequences.
In August, however, A.M. Best said it had revised the outlook for these units, as well as other units in Houston-based Skyward, then called the Houston International Insurance Group, to A- (Excellent) to be stable from negative.
Skyward announced its name change from Houston International in November.
First Indemnity said in its statement that it now offers the more than 8,250 law firms they work with additional limits on defense costs, deductibles, liability insurance and broad cybercrime that include wire fraud.
