The Occupational Safety and Health Administration on Tuesday announced quotes issued to a contractor in Waukegan, Illinois, for exposing workers to the risks of falls at two workplaces within 10 days.
Joshua Herion, who does business as ECS Roofing Professionals Inc., received a willful, four repeated and eight serious violations, and faces the proposed penalty of $ 360,531.
In October 2021, OSHA inspectors observed a foreman and two roofers on top of a commercial building from Hoffman Estates operating at heights of up to 20 feet with insufficient fall protection. Ten days later, a second OSHA inspector observed a crew of three working at heights over 12 feet on top of a residential building without fall protection equipment at a Waukesha, Wisconsin workplace.
Among the violations, OSHA found that ECS Roofing Professionals failed to equip workers with adequate fall protection equipment, train workers in its use, provide secure access to a ladder scaffolding platform, and ensure the use of head and eye protection.
