The city of Rancho Cordova, California, claims that the insurance trading website Insurify did not verify the validity of its information when it tied the small suburb of Sacramento as home to the worst drivers in the country.
Insurify compiled its data in August by analyzing its database of millions of applications in 2021 and looking at several categories of violations-number of failure to stay, failure to give in, tailgating, illegal passing, incorrect backing, hit-and-runs and street racing-to rank cities by rudest drivers, CBS Sacramento reported Tuesday.
Not only was Rancho Cordova hit with the worst rude driving speed in California at 65.37 per 1,000 drivers against the national average of 22.65 per 1
City officials meanwhile said they have reviewed their own data on all citations issued in Rancho Cordova 2021 and found that the rate of such "rude" violations is "significantly lower", with only 1.8 per 1,000 inhabitants, according to The CBS report.
They also cited the selective distortion of Insurify's data set, noting that the statistics that gave Rancho Cordova such a poor poverty ranking come only from people who applied for insurance through the company. "Look at the source: Insurify is an insurance broker with a vested interest in selling car insurance," city officials said in a statement.
