BRP Group Inc. said Wednesday it has committed $5.2 million to the University of South Florida.
The gift from the Tampa, Fla. brokerage and the Baldwin family who helped found the brokerage will support educational programs in the School of Risk Management and Insurance at the university’s Muma College of Business in Sarasota.
The school, which offers majors and minors in risk management and insurance and has 20 students enrolled, will be renamed Baldwin Risk Partners School of Risk Management and Insurance.
The donation will be used to provide scholarships and other resources and support risk and management and insurance programs at the school’s three campuses, according to a statement from the university and BRP.
“This investment will broaden awareness of the diversity of career opportunities available in this field of study and fuel the next generation of industry leaders,”; said Lowry Baldwin, president and co-founder of BRP.
BRP will help revamp the risk management and insurance curriculum at the school and work with the school to integrate students and graduates into its recruiting program, a company spokesman said in an email.
