On Thursday, President Joe Biden appointed US Commissioner for Gender Equality Charlotte A. Burrows as chairman and Commissioner Jocelyn Samuels as vice chairman.
Ms. Burrows and Msu Samuels are both Democrats. Burrows replaces Republican Janet Dhillon, who remains an EEOC commissioner, while Ms Samuels replaces Republican Keith E. Sonderling, who also remains a commissioner.
Ms. Dhillon's term expires in January 2022, while Sonderling's and Republican Commissioner Andrea Lucas' term expires in July 2024 and July 2025 respectively.
This means that the EEOC will not have a democratic majority until Dhillon's term ends.  In addition, the term of office of the General Council of the Board of Directors, Sharon Fast Gustafson, appointed by President Trump in 2023, ends. NLRB board member, Democrat Lauren McFerran, as chairman.
