AssuredPartners steals poaching against rival

AssuredPartners Inc. has sued a Reno, Nevada, competitor over the resignation last week for five employees.

Lake Mary, Florida-based broker also seeks a temporary restraining order against L / P Insurance Services LLP and its five employees.

AssuredPartners claims in a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Reno on Tuesday that the departures, which began on Friday, followed an accident over changes in manufacturers' liability and sales targets that could have led to a reduction in commission next year, according to the lawsuit, AssuredPartners of Nevada, LLC vs. L / P Insurance Services, LLC, Deanna DeHart; Courtney Pino; Christopher “Bryce” Warner; Gig Bradley; and Heather Piatt.

“This is basically an assault clearance and poaching case where five Assured employees coordinated their sudden departure to another insurance company, L / P Insurance Services LLC, and stole a treasure chest of confidential and trade secret information and poaching clients both before and after they have resigned from Assured, says the lawsuit.

"The employees immediately set out to ask Assured's customers for the benefit of their new employer, who knew or should have known that each of these employees was liable for insured and contractual obligations because each of them had signed a confidentiality agreement. and non-call agreements as terms of employment with Assured, the lawsuit says. "Managed and influenced" approximately $ 2.5 million of Assured's operations with $ 3.2 million from its Reno office.

The trial prosecutes the former employees for breach of contract and breach of trust. L / P is charged with disorderly conduct in a contractual relationship and aiding and abetting breach of fiduciary duty. All the accused are charged with embezzlement of trade secrets and unfair enrichment.

AssuredPartners seeks temporary restraining order, preliminary injunction and expedited discovery in a separate application to the court.

Lawyers for L / P and the employees did not respond to a request for comment.
