Applied Underwriters Inc. said on Monday that it has launched a division of directors and officers in the United States and hired former American International Group Inc. chief executive Stephen McGill as head of the unit.
Mr. McGill previously served as chief insurance officer for AIG's Validus Specialty Group, and before that he was group manager for professional lines at Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. and is part of its specialized business Applied Financial Lines Ltd. It will provide a range of D&O coverage in the United States
“Our first target business will focus on D&O responsibility, both primary and surplus. Over time, we will add various professional and other professional responsibilities, including architects and engineers, accountants, agents and brokers and lawyers, ”McGill said in a statement.
In December, Applied Underwriters launched the International Division. of applied financial lines, based in Paris and led by Jeroen Claesen. This follows the acquisition of the renewal rights to StarStone U.S. Inc .:'s financial business book. Claesen has previously been regional head of financial lines at StarStone.
