Allegations of smoke damage are dangerous! Attend Storm Restoration Contractor Summit to find out more Property Insurance Law Team Blog

April Hall has it going when it comes to conferences for restoration contractors that must not be missed. While she and I discussed her plans for the upcoming Storm Restoration Seminar, which will be held in Texas from January 29 to 31, she and I discussed the dangerous nature of smoke damage claims. This conversation took place during the most recent summit of the American Policyholder Association in Denver.

April supports the APA, wants people to join the APA and wants to make sure contractors report fraudulent documents from insurance companies, which are noted in Is the insurance company committing fraud? Report it to the American Policyholder Association Professional Fraud Investigators.

April Hall also shared his concern that smoke damage warnings seem to mean little or nothing to property insurance adjusters. The core of her concern for anyone working with smoking claims is the following simple warning:

I have known April long enough to be able to say that she has a “heart of gold”, and there is no doubt about her concern for these truths. In this issue regarding the dangers of smoking claims, she was very convinced that I can declare as high as I can that smoke residues can kill adjusters, contractors, policyholders and anyone who comes in contact with non-removed smoke. Science is done, and April is right – most people and adjusters are simply unaware of the danger.

Take precautions if you have smoke from a fire that comes in contact with a structure. You can not do this after exposing yourself and other passengers to the smoke.

If you have anything to report on insurance company fraud, leave a report to APA.

If you want to make money in a safe and secure way in the insurance contractor’s restoration business, see April Hall at her conference at the end of January. Click here to get your tickets.

Today’s thoughts

I never smoke too much – that is, I smoke in moderation, only one cigar at a time.
