Insurance is by definition a contract where the insurer, for compensation (premium) agrees to compensate another for a conditional or unknown risk of loss. It is used as a method of spreading losses among many people who are insured in the same company. The insurer, through its policy, promises in exchange for a premium to pay to defend and reimburse the insured, in the event that a certain type of loss occurs within a certain period of time known as the "insurance period". By distributing the risk of loss among many, each individual pays only a small part of the risk of loss insured against.
Liability insurance is limited to insurance against the risk of losses that a person may suffer for damages made to a person or property to someone else for an unintentional or unintentional reason.
In exchange for the promise to pay the debited premium, the insurance company agrees to provide the insured with protection against various risks that an owner, developer or builder of real estate faces. . The insurance risks for the insurer are stated in the insurance. For each insurer's promise, a premium is charged.
The insurance will provide coverage for the following:
- bodily injury and property damage to persons injured by the insured,
- medical payments regardless of fault; personal injury and advertising damage; (a cover that insures against the insured's risk of loss for several offenses such as libel or slander, advertising damage, false imprisonment, etc.) and
- contractual liability.
These are the main coverages available in CGL insurance. There are other coverages available to cover the specific needs of individuals, companies, partnerships or joint ventures. If there are special needs for a particular construction project that faces risks that are not considered by a CGL, it is wise to consult with a professional and major insurance broker who specializes in the industry involved in the matter. You can find such brokers by talking to others who specialize in similar projects, your state insurance department, professional risk managers or Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU), who act as insurance consultants.
