A video explaining insurance fraud with "Staged" Losses

The number of variations on types of staged losses is limited only by the imagination of insurance criminals. Some of the variations follow:

AUTOS

Staged theft.

A staged theft occurs when “the owner agrees with an intermediary to throw a vehicle. The owner "gives up" the vehicle and then reports it to the insurer as stolen. "The person to whom the vehicle has been handed over will pass it on to a savior who divides it into its parts and sells the parts (a 'chopping trade'.)

The staged theft is difficult to detect unless the perpetrator is careless, aggressive or For example, in United States of America v Rocky Glen Beasley No. 11-30228 (5th Circ. 10/27/2011), Rocky Glen Beasley was convicted by a jury of wire fraud and conspiracy.

Beasley's conviction stems from the staged theft of his Ford F-150 pickup from Stephen Yates. According to the evidence presented at the trial, Beasley has been convicted of IT fraud and sentenced to one year in prison and a two-year suspended release term. and Yates reorganized the staged theft of Beasley's truck. Overwhelming evidence demanded that the conviction be confirmed.

A staged theft of a car committed to defraud an insurance company is a crime and can be punished in federal and state courts. Rocky Glen Beasley was unlucky enough to be tried and convicted in a federal court where fraud convictions have certain sentences. will usually be stolen.
