What is the No 1 concern in your specialty?
Wholesaler space is built on expertise, so the biggest concern for me is when people have access to wholesale space or access to surplus and surplus markets, and they do not do it for expertise. We must continue to define our role as wholesalers as experts in the E&S field and not just as a capacity experience. The generalist in the wholesale trade will have a lot of problems in the future.
What surprised you about the insurance industry?
What surprised me most then is the same that surprises me most now, and it is so talented our younger generation is. Everyone seems to have preconceived notions of what a young professional is, but I think there are plenty of talents over 40 years in our business, and it's no longer an old boy club. There are many people with some incredible ideas, and these ideas are surrounded by the industry. The young talent in our business is incredible.
